Like you, we’re concerned about getting young people into work that is constructive, fulfilling and purposeful.
In fact, one of our key goals is to see zero youth unemployment in the Rodney region. We’d love your help with that.
We work with young people who have difficulties with transitioning to employment. There are many reasons for this, but often things that we take for granted are actually barriers for vulnerable young people.
If, for instance, you’ve never learned:
how to turn up somewhere on time,
how to communicate well,
that personal grooming and hygiene is important, or even....
learned about your rights (and responsibilities) as a contributing member of our community, then...
...getting a job can be a bit difficult.
But we like difficult. It's why we do what we do. We run a specific programme for young people who find it difficult to get work.
We broker work with local employers.
We teach young people how to write a CV, how to handle a job interview and how to tailor a great cover letter.
We mentor young people as they step into the work place.
We also continue communication with the employer. It's a two-way street, after all.
We use our property and our social enterprise to teach young people useful, employable skills. Our young people can choose to learn practical industry skills in farming, fencing, planting, pest control, building & labouring, tourism and hospitality.
We work face-to-face with young people who need someone to care, who need someone to understand, people who won’t give up and who will see past their ‘stuff’ to find ways to help.
There is great power in unity. That’s where you come in. That’s why you’re here, too.
Welcome to Springboard. We’re gathering 1000 people like you to help us make a difference. Will you join us?
